NSW AIP Awards for Postgraduate Excellence in PhysicsThe NSW-AIP Award for Postgraduate Excellence in Physics was established in 1995 and awarded annually based on 20 minute presentations from Ph.D. students at a special NSW-AIP branch meeting in around September/October each year. Each university in NSW and the ACT is invited to nominate one student to compete, each year, for a certificate and cash prize (of $500). These awards have been created to encourage excellence in postgraduate work, and all nominees who participate in the awards day will receive a special certificate recognising the nominee's high standing amongst physics Ph.D. students in NSW/ACT. Entrants are asked to make a 20 minute presentation on their postgraduate research in Physics, with the presentation judged on criteria including content and scientific quality, clarity and presentation skills. In recognition of their larger student numbers, the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales are each invited to nominate two additional students who will be guests of the AIP on the awards day and receive certificates, but who will not make a presentation or be eligible for the cash prize. Eligibility requirements for 2003 can be found here.
